I didn’t get to posting yesterday because DH and I were very busy while the children were at school. First the girls had their 18 month check. They are all doing great. A little on the light weight side, but they are catching up. Developmentally they are right on track, praise the Lord. So now we are track for a great 2 year old check in October.
After their appointment we came home and did this…..
This is tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and bell peppers.
The second one is all veggies from seeds — lettuces, carrots, Green beans, corn & pumpkins.
The third one is all fruits. We have a couple of strawberry plants and watermelon. We have a couple of empty spots we are deciding what to plant.
I am looking for the slats to make it a true square foot garden, but right now they want too much for the lattice work. So when it goes on sale I will get it.
Richard was a sweetie and built the boxes. Then when the girls came home we mixed the soil. After that Liz and Amanda planted the seeds and plants. So now we tend and wait for them to grow.
Mandy started an experiment last year a potato garden. We will see how they turn out.
We had been talking about doing this for a year or two. So the prices have now forced us to start. If it works out well we will build another couple of boxes next year. Here is a link to the official site if you want to learn more about it. http://www.squarefootgardening.com/
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
Well I actually did my ironing on Tuesday night so today was just basic maintenance mode. YEAH! What an easy day.
I cleaned up the living room, dusted, vacuumed the dining room (several times). I wonder why they put carpet in dining rooms. It doesn’t work well with 18 month olds…
I am going to have to figure out how to post videos. Marian is so cute. They are learning the song, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. We have this puppy. She will go over to it and press the button until that song comes on. She will also to that for the Itsy, Bitsy Spider song.
Tomorrow is going to be another quiet day. With gas prices going up we are limiting travel as much as possible. So we will take the middle 4 to school try to return somethings to Walmart. Then we have to take the oldest 2 to the doctor in the afternoon.
Around the house I will be doing theSmall Things for the day over at Home Sanctuary. I invite you all to take a look at Rachel Anne’s site. She has some wonderful insights about creating a peaceful home.
Dinner will be something relatively quick and simple. We will probably have chicken paremsean, spaghetti and salad.
Today I am starting Thankful Thursday. So tell me what are you thankful for in your life?
I am thankful for my family. I have a wonderful husband who works to make sure all our needs are met. I have 9 wonderful children that get along fabulously with each other (most of the time! 🙂 )
Wednesday Richard works his normal 24 hour shift so I switch into maintenance mode. Just the bare minimum of house work gets done during the day. Tuesday was hot and humid so while I did the baking (which I probably shouldn’t have done) I didn’t iron the laundry. I will work on that while the girls nap.
Liz is attending the graduation at the high school. She is part of the Spanish Honor Society Honor Guard. Plus her boyfriend got her a ticket to be in the gym during the ceremony. (Those particular tickets are at premium). I also have my last PTA meeting for the year. YEAH! Next year I am not holding an office so I won’t feel the pressure to volunteer so much.
Dinner tomorrow is going to be sandwiches and left over salads from the BBQ on Monday since everyone is running around tomorrow evening.
Today I am going make treats for the family. I am going to make Peanut Blossom Cookies. I usually only make these at Christmas time so it will definately be a surprise. The other is Dutch Crunch Bread. After reading about it from my friend at The Teakettle Corner, I decided I wanted to try it.
Other than the baking I do not have much on my plate. I have to take teh 14 year old to orthodontist for a check up. Then I want to iron some things. I also want to go through the babies clothes. I still have long sleeves and sweat pants in the drawer. It has been such a cool spring that I haven’t been in rush. Since it almost June 1st I am thinking it is time. 🙂 Then some general housekeeping and we are done for the day.
So over all it will be a quiet day, Praise the Lord! 🙂
Richard worked a 48 hour shift this weekend. By Sunday night the girls were going to the window crying for Dada, Dada. Once he sat down, he was attacked! The girls were very fussy so before he arrived home, they were given their binks (which usually live in their cribs).
I finally found the camera cable! YEAH! so now I can post prom pictures. I am still waiting to get the picture from the triplets teacher from their first communion.
Barrel of Curls Hair
The Girl and Guy
Suncatchers on the Cake
Sorry I haven’t posted, but a lot has been going on. Liz’s bone scan was negative for a fracture, but she is still in a lot of pain. I am waiting on the doctor to tell me what the next step will be. Mandy’s shoulder is still bothering her. Her test also showed no tear. Again waiting on the next step. Richard had to have treatment for a bulging disc in his neck. He has had one spinal shot, with another scheduled for the early part of June.
We are fast approaching the end of the school year. There has been field trip after field trip for the children. So they have been busy too. The end of the year band concerts are also in the works. At this point there are two in band, so it is not too bad with schedule conflicts.
but I need to find the camera cable! Once I can find it (or get a new one) I will post those pictues. I promise!
As you know last weekend was super busy! Liz had prom and then the triplets had their First Communion. Well the weekend never ended and we have been on hyperdrive ever since.
Monday evening was our Potluck, Prayer and Praise dinner. It was the final meeting of the Faith Formation Year. A wonderful time was had by all.
Tuesday Liz had to have a bone scan of her spine to rule out a stress fracture. That was a total fiasco at the start dealing with insurance questions. But it worked out in all ways. She does not have a fracture, but now we need to see what we have to do to ease her pain.
Wednesday Richard worked so it was “quiet” day. Well as quiet as can be around here. LOL But he called and informed me that he had to attend a morning training session at headquarters. Gotta love the last minute notice. Oh well the life of firefighting family!
Thursday, Richard had his AM training. He arrived home just in time for Me to go pick up the middle four and Amanda from school. Amanda was nominated and received a special award from the County School system. She received a Service Star award for outstanding community service. We are very proud of her!
Friday we spent looking for a new dishwasher. We are still looking…. The pump went out on our 2 year old dishwasher. GE wants almost $300 to repair it. I was thinking buying a new one would be better. But it is looking like repairing it would be cheaper when you include the delivery and installation. I wish my DH was little handier. 🙂 Maybe I will talk him into trying his hand at installing one. We do have a neighbor that could probably help so we will be thinking and praying on that one this weekend.
I also received a call from the President of the Lady Knights of Columbus. It is our weekend to help out at the Sharing Table. She asked if she could borrow my older 2 girls. She then begged me to make a casserole. I promptly volunteered the girls. I also said I would make 2 of the casseroles. So I will be heading out to the store shortly to get the ingredients and we will spend the evening making the casserole.
Sunday Richard works and we have our May Crowning and Baby Shower at the Church. Then this week will be done. LOL I will take tonight and get my plans together for next week.
Oh I will also post some pictures later from Prom. I need to download them. I don’t have pictures yet from First Communion since someone left the camera on and the batteries died overnight. One of the teachers took a bunch of pictures and will give us some soon so once I have those I will post them.
