Summer Vacation — Day 7

Well today was one of those days. The dryer has been acting up, well it had a seizure and died tonight. Now this dryer cost of all of $300. When I called the repair place and found out it would cost us $100 just to have someone come out and look, Richard and I decided to go get another dryer. We headed up to the new store in town, HHGregg and found a large, cheap one. It is being delivered tomorrow.

Other than that we started our new summer schedule. Douglas, Becky and Emma have started their summer work. They found it takes all of an hour to do, and they had fun. Plus I added in summer writing assignments. Once the cub scout camp and Douglas’s boy scout camp is over next week, I am going to start on a spelling curriculum with them. I have mostly poor spellers so I am hoping this will help everyone. (Maybe I should have Richard sit in on it too. 😀 )

So overall a wonderful day, except for the dryer going belly up.

I hope you all enjoyed your day too!

Summer Vacation — Day 3

It was also the 3rd day of the Big Clean. I have to say the house is coming together. Other than paperwork filing, the dining room is done. I was able to clean out the white shelving unit, storage dresser and buffet today. I am sitting at a totally clean computer desk (which is my second nemesis). In the kitchen I have to go through the pantry and two more cabinets and then it will be done. One the kitchen is done then the entire downstairs will be complete.

Upstairs, the linen closet is done, the little girls’ room is done, the boys’ rooms is done (for now, you know how it is with boys) and both bathrooms upstairs are done. All that remains to finish up there is my bedroom and the big girls room.

The final area in the house is the basement. That contains a play area, Mandy’s bedroom, a half bathroom and the unfinished laundry area/pantry. The pantry area of the basement and the half bath are done so all we have to work on is the laundry area and Mandy’s bedroom.

Liz did not have to go back to Hopkins today, everything is looking great. Praise the Lord! So I am hoping things with her settle down for now and she can get working on her mobility training and educational testing to determine which programs and services she will need when she is able to return to school.

My brother arrived at Mom’s house today. If everything is okay in the morning we will be taking the family down to visit with mom and my brother. We may even invade the rehab center and visit dad. I am sure they will appreciate us bringing ALL nine children in for a visit. Can’t wait to see the expressions and hear the comments.

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
