Trick or Treat

We decided to do a family theme for Halloween this year. Mandy did a great job on the costumes. Everyone in the neighborhood though it was a great idea. Not to mention it brought back a lot of memories for the parents.

It has been a month since I posted..

It has been a month since I posted. What a difference a month makes. The night I posted my father was readmitted to the hospital with a major infection. Early the next morning he was put on a ventilator so the doctor’s could assess what was going on with him and determine the source of infection.

It was determined that he had a massive heart attack which was caused by the septic infection. His heart was horribly damaged. The afternoon of the October 5th, he was removed from the vent. Mom, my brother, Buddy, and I spent the day with him. While he was hoarse from the vent, we were able to talk with him and had a good day. We came home late in the afternoon and had dinner. I went back to the hospital that evening and spent some more time with him.

Early the next morning we received a call from the ICU that his heart rhythm had changed and we needed to get to the hospital. Unfortunately he passed away before we could get up there.

The rest of the week was spent finalizing his last arrangements. We had his viewing on November 11th, very fitting for a man who served in the US Army for over 30 years. He will buried in Arlington National Cemetery on January 18, 2011.

Rest in Peace Dad.
